The banking sub sector led the activity chart in turn over volume, with Zenith Bank Plc recording the highest number of shares, put at 30.83 million worth N441.13 million.
Guaranty Trust Bank Plc followed with a turn over of 23.832 million shares valued at N404.068 million and Oceanic Bank International recording 17.654 million shares worth N41.200 million.
Information, communication and technology sub-sector followed on the activity chart, with a turn over of 104.50 million shares valued at N58.090 million recorded in 27 deals. Activity in the sub-sector was driven by the high volume of trading in the shares of Mass Telecommunication Innovation Nigeria Plc, which stood at 100.01 million, valued at N50 million. IHS Nigeria Plc followed with a turn over of 3.950 million shares worth N7.517 million, Starcomms Plc followed with 305,000 shares valued at N446.047 million.
The insurance sub-sector came third on the activity chart, with a turn over of 26.836 million shares worth N21.163 million in 218 deals. N.E.M. Insurance Co. Plc led the sector with 4.871 million shares valued at N2.561 million. AIICO Insurance Plc came next with a turn over of 3,721 million shares worth N3.031 million and Law Union and Rock Insurance Plc with 3.157 million shares valued at N1.660 million.
In all, investors staked N2.148 billion on 318.572 million shares in 5,869 deals.
Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) led the gainers' table with N1.50, to close at N31.53, Dangote Cement Plc followed with N1.00, to close at N123.00 and Oando Nigeria Plc, gaining N0.67 to close at N65.67.
Nestle Nigeria Plc led the losers' table with N8.84, to close at N370.16, GlaxoSmithKline Plc came next with N1.24 to close at N26.51 and Unilever Plc with N1.10 to close at N23.10.
