Barcelona have agreed terms on a €30 million sponsorship deal with the Qatar Foundation to promote the organization on their strips, reports from Spain suggest.
Radio Catalunya comments that president Sandro Rosell and his board have reached an agreement that will exist alongside, and not in place of, the current arrangement held with charity UNICEF.
The branding, alongside UNICEF’s logo, represent the first shirt sponsorship contract the Camp Nou giants have ever undertaken, and the duration of the deal is thought to be between five and six years, meaning a potential revenue stream of €180m.
The club’s recent financial constraints are well-documented, and Rosell first mooted the idea of considering shirt endorsements when he took the helm at the end of last season, a concept which appears to have come to fruition.
Rivals Real Madrid currently earn upwards of €20m in their shirt sponsorship deal with betting company Bwin
