“Once you elect the head like the president, governor and local government chairman you could then zone the rest of the positions to give all parts of the society a sense of belonging,” he added, saying that unless this is done Nigeria would not get the best leader it needed to get out of the woods
Jonathan\Sambo Presidential Campaign Organisation has dismissed the relevance of Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries slated for January.
It said Adamu Ciroma and his cohorts has committed a treasonable felony just as it said Atiku is not a factor to be considered in the race following the support the organisation is getting from Nigerians in the course of its campaign tours. Director, Contact, Mobilisation and Organisation of Jonathan\Sambo Presidential Campaign Organisation, Ahmed Gulak, spoke on Wednesday in Asaba during an interview with journalists, claiming that Atiku only emerged by the benevolence of nine individuals.
According to him, Ciroma and his cohorts only perform the agenda of the North South, regional, tribal, religious and other dichotomy “having come this far and known their political history, it is a shame that people like Ciroma at their age”.
“l am from Adamawa State like Atiku. We don’t want a president that would be sectional. We want a true Nigerian leader. Nigerians are tired of such people. Nigeria belongs to all of us. They are saying enough is enough. Those Nigerians pursuing such agenda are not true Nigerians,” he said.
Gulak, who is also the Special Adviser, Legal and Constitutional Matters to the President, claimed that Jonathan would win as the organisation has prepared ground for the success of Jonathan\Sambo ticket not only during the primaries but even in the general polls.
“Nigerians are happy, grateful to the President for the things he has done for these few months. Everywhere you go they thank him for providing petroleum at affordable and fixed price, for making headway in the electricity generation and security issues.”
Similarly, the Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien, has said the shabby state of the country needs a competent and dedicated leadership to correct.
The paramount ruler of the state spoke during a visit by a delegation of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation led by its director general, Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, saying that such a leadership could not be selected through zoning of top elective offices in the country.
“Zoning of political and elective offices is outdated,” he said, adding that he was disappointed that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could be ambivalent about its policy on zoning.
Edozien, who said he was, however, excited at the prospect of Jonathan running for the Presidency; suggested that if there would be zoning at all, it must be done after the topmost executive position had been freely selected from a community of competent persons.
